what are Codes?
Codes are systems of signs, which create meaning codes can be devided into two categories techinical and symbolic.
Technical codes are all the ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media text for an example the camera work in Film.
Symbolic code show what is beneatj the surface of what we see. For example, a characters actions show you how the character is feeling.
Codes are social in nature. What this means is that theses codes live outside the media product themselves, but would be understood in similar ways in the real life of the audience.

convention are the generally accepted ways of doing something. There are general conventions in any medium, such as the use of interview qoutes in a print article, but conventions are also genre specific.
